AFTON AND SUZANNE'S CHURRO BITES

INGREDIENTS

Churros

  • 2 cups water 
  • 240g butter 
  • 270g flour 
  • 6 eggs whisked

Savoury Filling

  • 1 pack of bacon 
  • Chives 
  • Red onion 
  • Green pepper 
  • 2 Tbsp fIg jam 
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese

Sweet Filling

  • 1 tin of caramel treat 
  • 500ml of fresh cream 

HOW TO MAKE

Churros

  • Heat butter and water in a pot 
  • Once butter has melted add in sifted flour and mix well until the batter pulls away from the surface of the pot
  • Add whisked eggs one by one to get the right consistency 
  • Place mixture into a piping bag and heat up your frying oil on medium high heat 
  • Pipe the churro to your desired size and allow to fry till golden brown. 
  • Once it is ready to come out of the pot dip it into some cinnamon sugar for the ultimate churro taste

Savoury Filling

  • Fry bacon till crispy 
  • Chop chives, red onion  and green pepper fine 
  • Chop bacon into fine-ish bits 
  • In a bowl add chive mixture, fig jam, cream cheese together and bacon mix until all combined 

Sweet Filling

  • Whip together caramel and cream until it forms stiff peaks 
  • Put into a piping bag and pipe into fried and sugar coated churros
